About Lowell Barrowes

Lowell Barrowes, MD, holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Utah and a doctor of medicine from St. Louis University. After the completion of his postdoctoral training in emergency medicine at San Bernardino County Medical Center, he spent 15 years working as a family practice physician at various practices. During this time, Dr. Lowell Barrowes also began working part-time as an emergency room locum tenens, or temporary/substitute, physician.

This involvement as a locum tenens physician ultimately led Dr. Barrowes to focus on such roles for the second half of his career. He worked full-time as a locum tenens physician in more than 75 locations across Georgia, Missouri, Nebraska, Kansas, and several other states.

Meanwhile, he took on various emergency medicine positions at Native American reservation clinics, regional medical centers, and community hospitals. He continues to work as a self-employed physician who accepts emergency medicine temporary assignments.

Active in his professional community, Dr. Barrowes regularly attends emergency medicine conferences. Outside of his work, Dr. Barrowes enjoys restoring and preserving antique cars. He owns a 1936 Packard and often works on the vehicle.
